The Blue Hole is a roughly 100-metre-deep sinkhole in the reef just north of Dahab, and the most famous dive site in the region. Our guided recreational route stays on the beautiful outer reef: you enter from the shore, drop into the blue, and follow the coral wall — no need to attempt the deep Arch, which is for technical divers only. Easy shore entry over a shallow saddle, then a gentle wall dive along vibrant hard and soft coral. Visibility is typically excellent (20–30 m), water is calm with little current, and the recreational profile stays above 30 m. Water temperature ranges from about 21°C in winter to 28°C in summer.
Anthias clouds, butterflyfish, parrotfish and jacks over healthy coral; keep an eye on the blue for the occasional turtle or trevally.
Requires an Advanced Open Water certification and good buoyancy; the guided dive follows the reef and rim. The deep Arch is strictly for trained technical divers and is not part of this dive. New to diving? Start with a Discover Scuba or Open Water course and build up.
