The Canyon — Dahab Dive Site

A dramatic sandstone fissure and glassfish-filled swim-throughs — a Dahab classic.

🌊 Max depth 25 m🎓 Min. Advanced Open WaterShore diveShore entry

Overview

The Canyon is a striking crack in the reef formed by ancient geological movement, a short drive south of Dahab. You dive over a coral garden to the canyon mouth, then explore the fissure and its famous glassfish 'dome' of shimmering light. It's one of Dahab's most-loved dives and works for a wide range of divers.

Conditions & what to expect

Shore entry over a reef flat, then a sandy slope to the canyon. The rim sits around 20 m and is easy; going inside the deeper canyon is an advanced option. Good visibility, mild current, and warm, clear water year-round.

Marine life

Dense clouds of glassfish, lionfish, groupers, blue-spotted stingrays on the sand and colourful reef fish across the coral.

Who can dive it

Requires an Advanced Open Water certification and good buoyancy — the guided dive includes the deeper canyon. Newer divers can build up to it with an Advanced course.
